It is our mission to connect oenophiles with world-class, limited-production boutique wines.

Our online marketplace offers the most convenient and accessible way for consumers to explore and purchase the finest wines from a curated collection of exclusive, small production, artisanal wines while providing exposure for high-quality, undiscovered boutique wineries that lack access to large distribution channels.

While working for a wholesaler, Taylored Wines' founder Rachel Portell was frustrated by the lack of technology and the many inefficiencies that went unaddressed in the wine industry. Rachel saw an opportunity to build a technology solution that would improve the sales and marketing process benefitting both high-quality boutique wine producers, and wine buyers looking for unique and interesting wines.

Rachel

Rachel Portell is a proven entrepreneur who bootstrapped her first company, Convometrics, from 2011-2014. Portell’s marketing agency grew to a team of seven with a net profit margin of 43.5%, was sought after for acquisition by three companies and sold in July of 2014. Portell sits on the Girl Scout’s of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana’s Board of Directors and co-chairs the marketing committee with Christine McGrath, VP External Affairs at Mondelez International. Prior to building her marketing company, Portell gained valuable experience in the wine industry at Spiaggia, Randolph Wine Cellars and Winesellers Importing & Marketing. She is currently working towards her WSET Diploma.

David

Since earning his MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business in 2012, David Van Der Beek has been pursuing the dream of making entrepreneurship a career. David has worked on numerous ventures, both as a founder in residence and web developer at Sandbox Industries and as a freelance web developer. Before business school, David worked in finance and strategy consulting. As an economic consultant for Charles River Associates, David prepared valuation models to support expert witnesses in finance-related litigation. Then David transitioned into strategy consulting. David has worked at Altman Vilandrie & Co. and Deloitte Consulting where he helped major telecom companies develop growth strategies, enter new markets and launch businesses, and adapt to disruptive changes in their industry.

Barry

Barry Taylor is an accomplished executive with over 25 years of experience in all aspects of the retail automotive industry including sales, leasing, fixed operations, marketing, business development, team building, training, human resources, consulting, process development and improvement, and manufacturer relations. He is an innovative leader who has a proven track record of profit development, sales growth, outstanding customer relations and the ability to effectively lead and operate a large multi franchise group operation.
